On the day the two Ferrari drivers collided and gave up early, Lewis Hamilton captured P1 from beginning to end, at the Red Bull Ring race on July 12.
The race exposes the reality of F1. Mercedes overwhelmed its rivals and took two leading positions. Red Bull tried to chase but eventually got the following two positions. Max Verstappen also admitted that the race with Mercedes was too boring.
Ferrari was still in crisis when Charles Leclerc bumped into Sebastian Vettel in the first round, causing both to give up. F1 is only attractive for the race in the middle group, with McLaren and Racing Point.
Hamilton won convincingly
Once again Lando Norris became the focus, with the sprint sprinting at the final lap. McLaren’s 20-year-old driver competes Daniel Ricciardo and Lance Stroll for sixth place, with only two laps remaining in the race.
Norris passed Ricciardo in round 70, then left Stroll in round 71. Enlist Sergio Perez’s accident when trying to cross Alexander Albon, Norris took Perez’s P5 at the last corner. The second leg in a row Lando Norris showed the ability to speed up in the last round after he went on the podium in the first race.
Lewis Hamilton took the first place on Styrian GP stage
Perez may regret it when he is competing for fourth place to fall to P6 again. The Mexican racer came in at 17 but kept going to take P5. But after the accident, Perez even nearly lost sixth place. He was still selected as the “Best Racer”.
Norris’ teammate Carlos Sainz – was unlucky, despite starting in third. His pit time took 7.2 seconds, more than double the average. The reason is that Sainz’s left-hand rear-wheeler employee does a bad job. Ferrari’s future driver finished the race in ninth place, awarded an extra point with the fastest-lap.
