Regional differences make different characteristics in the car industry (Part 3)

Also, speed is reminiscent of European cars. The list of the 10 fastest cars on the planet is mostly European cars, and the rest are sporadic American models. The Bugatti Chiron is leading the world in commercial vehicle speed records (excluding the Hennessy Venom GT because it is a modified model).

The driving feeling is harder to distinguish between European and American cars because it depends on the personality of the market. European cars have a compact, sporty feel with a bit of safety. And American cars are “crazy”, lack control, and tend to accelerate in a straight line.

Speed is reminiscent of European cars

An expert at TheZebra commented: “German brands are known for their high-performance cars, making them fast and stable, able to pass every corner at high speed without any trouble. Their cars are better than American cars in terms of handling and driving pleasure.

American muscle car, large engine capacity

It is not difficult to define the strengths of American cars. The image of the large SUV or pickup is characteristic. Maybe the Japanese are making comparable cars to compete, but surpassing the muscular, massive style of American cars is not possible. American car design gives a feeling of birth for men.

Big engines are also a feature. Of the 10 cars with the largest engine capacity in the world today, 6 are American cars. Number one is the Dodge Viper with a capacity of up to 8.7 liters, the No. 2 position of the Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 equipped with a 7-liter engine. As mentioned above, American drivers have a very distinctive feeling of inconvenience.

In a 2015 MotorTrend test, the 2014 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 won the 2014 Porsche 911 Turbo S and the 2015 Nissan GT-R for the Streets of Willow track completion speed.

And most importantly, the Camaro Z/28 is not the most powerful car, only uses rear-wheel drive, while the two opponents drive two wheels. The selling price of the American car is 75,000 USD, lower than the 117,000 USD of the Nissan GT-R and 185,000 USD of the Porsche 911 Turbo S.

European cars are strong, but not cheap. 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat has a capacity of 707 horsepower, price less than 60,000 USD in the US. That means more than the horsepower of many cult European cars like Lamborghini Aventador, Bentley Continental SuperSports, but the price is much lower.

European cars are expensive but worth the money

Europeans love to say that you get what you pay for. That is why European cars are always expensive. Germany is known as a country with great mechanical engineering. An example of this is the case between two rivals, the Mercedes SLR McLaren and the Dodge Viper, both produced under Daimler-Chrysler.

The two high-performance models are similar in size and performance. But Viper made in America and sold for 80,000 USD, while SLR McLaren shipped in Europe and sold for 5 times.

If according to Europeans, you get what you pay for, the SLR quality should be five times that of the Viper. In its history, the Dodge Viper has rarely had to be summoned. In 2016, they called to repair 2 Viper production from January 6-8, 2016. And the Mercedes SLR McLaren is the opposite.

European cars are expensive but worth the money

In mid-2006, the German company had to recall 433 vehicles from the 2005-2006 model in the US due to engine failure that could cause a fire. In early 2008, the “silver arrow” in 2007 was stuck with an incorrectly installed windshield.

Not stopping at Mercedes, many high-performance cars from cult brands in Europe also have a fault that can cause a fire. Can be mentioned, Lamborghini or Ferrari.

However, there is no denying the premium of European cars. They create new levels of luxury, with Rolls-Royce, Bentley, or Maybach (now Mercedes-Maybach). Especially the value increases over the years. Many rare European car models from the last century have been successfully auctioned at sky-high prices.

As the Ferrari 250 GTO sold for $ 38 million through an auction in 2014. The super-rich considers these cars as investments, not ordinary cars.

European traditions are always appreciated

In-car manufacturing, that factor is even more apparent. For Lamborghini, the Aventador has a bit of the look of “predecessor” Murcielago. Murcielago inherited many lines from Diablo, whose style comes from Countach. Also, there are many other examples, such as Ferrari, BMW, Audi, Aston Martin, Rolls-Royce…

In terms of technology, the US is a country with many famous companies in this field. Google and Tesla are leading the way in self-driving cars, vehicles requiring a lot of complex technology.

In Europe, many companies are catching up with the trend, for example, Mercedes by cooperating with American technology firms. However, in terms of traditional vehicles, European cars are far ahead of Ford or GM in general technology.
