Norris overtakes Stroll
The race began with the disaster of Ferrari, although the SF1000 was not very impressive. Leclerc is under pressure from an outside lane car. He drove and hit Vettel. The collision caused Vettel to give up right at the pit. Leclerc had to go into the pit to replace the rear spoiler, but then gave up in the fifth round because of a problem with the undercarriage.
The collision of Mercedes caused the yellow light to appear, in about three laps. After that, Valtteri Bottas and Albon took advantage of the power of the W11 and RB16 to surpass Sainz, taking third and fourth place. At this moment Verstappen was sandwiched between two Mercedes cars. These three cars sped up and left the middle group behind.
By the 24th round, Verstappen entered the pit and replaced the normal tire, leaving the pit in third place. Three rounds later, Hamilton also entered the pit and still stood on the Red Bull racer. Bottas pointed to the pit then seven rounds, to return to third place.
Attractive chase begins from Perez. He passed Sainz one by one, defeated his Stroll teammate at Turn 4, then slipped past Ricciardo. After that, Racing Point‘s main driver continuously created the fastest lap to get close to Albon. Many times he tried to surpass Thai riders, but failed.
In the first group, Verstappen was gradually narrowed by Bottas. In the Turn 4 round 66, Verstappen was overcome by the Finnish driver, but reclaimed his position at the next corner. A round later, Bottas overtook and this time Verstappen no longer defended his position.
Lewis Hamilton won the first place
Dropping on P3, the Dutch racer enters a soft tire changing pit to earn the fastest-lap score. But when he left the pit, he ran into the last group. The plan is broken.
After the first two races, Bottas still leads with 43 points, six points more than Hamilton. Norris remained third with 26 points, leaving Leclerc eight points away. The next race took place in Hungary on July 19.
